This Week at LBF

December 8th 2024

As the days get warmer this is your reminder to wear sunscreen and sunglasses.

SPF 50 when possible, but hey, I'd be happy if you just started wearing any. Then remember to take it to the tits, the back of your neck and your hands!

When choosing sunglasses polarised is the way to go for better protection and the bigger the better.

I know I should also be wearing a hat, but my hair 😊

Your skin will thank you, if it could, seriously a little voice would pop up and say 'thanks for looking after me - see no wrinkles or sun damage'.

What was the one thing from watch The (M) Factor film?

Some interesting takes from our screening on World Menopause Day.

I don’t even know where to begin with all of my takeaways.

Hyaluronic acid is considered one of the most effective and popular ingredients in the skincare and cosmetic industry due to its outstanding water retention capacity in the skin. So what exactly is hyaluronic acid and why such a big fuss about it?

Also referred to as Sodium Hyaluronate it is an element that is naturally occurring in skin and connective tissue. Incredible since a single molecule of Hyaluronic Acid can absorb as much as 1000 times (yes, that was one thousand) its own weight in water.

In a nutshell (or should I say dropper)

Deep Hydration
Enhanced Skin Elasticity
Strengthened Skin Barrier
Promotes Wound Healing
Reduces Inflammation

A study published in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology has established that creams and serums containing hyaluronic acid can reduce wrinkles and improve skin elasticity in the periods within a few weeks of use (Jegasothy et al., 2014). It is no wonder hyaluronic acid is a popular ingredient in many products (including ours)!

You can read more about it on our blog.

Do you read?

Here at LBF we 🩷 to read.

One of the things that’s so great about the opening up of the worldwide discussions about menopause is the books!

This one hooked me straight in.

@bryonygordon #madwomanbook

There is so much we uncover about ourselves during our lives, and menopause seems to be a peak in our self discovery.

Have a read when you get a chance.

Hands up if you have a 'thermometer leg' sometimes at night?

You know the one leg poking out, trying to regulate your body heat.

There's a reason for it!

The drop in oestrogen—affects the hypothalamus, the part of the brain responsible for regulating our body temperature.

Making our internal thermostat more sensitive and prone to massive swings in our body, from hot to cold, faster than we can grab the doona!

This can make it really hard to get good sleep. That's where our Be Calm Relaxing Mood Mist can help.

💤 Melatonin
Enhances Sleep Quality

💤 Lavender Oil
Promotes Calm and Relaxation

💤 Mandarin Oil
Uplifts and Soothes

💤 Bergamot Oil
Alleviates Stress and Improves Mood

We can't change the temperature of your room, but we can help ease you into sleep with this spray - and it smells great!

Creating a good night time routine, layering your bed and nightclothes, having a temperature controlled room, limiting caffeine and turning off devices will all help you get a restful night.
